Plant a Tree in Israel
Bring renewed life to warn-torn areas of Southern Israel by planting an olive tree, a symbol of peace in an area ravaged by Kassam rockets from neighboring Hamas controlled Gaza.
In the last few years over three thousand Kassam rockets have landed in Sderot, Ashkelon, Ashdod and the surrounding areas, following the Israeli Disengagement in the summer of 2005. These rockets have destroyed schools, homes, and orchards, as well as killing and maiming the civilian population living in these areas.
Now you can show your support for the Israelis living under siege by planting an olive tree, or several trees in the region next to Gaza, a sign of peace that is so desperately needed in the face of so much destruction.
The olive branch has been a symbol of peace from the Jewish Bible to classical Greece. In the Bible the olive branch symbolized the end of the flood and the return of God’s relationship with Noah and his descendents. In Greek mythology Athena created the olive tree as a symbol of peace, and was granted the city of Athens.
