Ancient Roman Glass - Shalom Pendant Scroll Shaped
Shalom is etched on this glass pendant in the Hebrew script of the 7th century B.C.E,
1st to 6th century C.E.
Based on a sundial found at Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, this set of matched earrings has iridescent glass squares hanging from silver disks. The green toned glass echos the fine glassware crafted in ancient Israel that gets covered with a shimmering patina over the centuries.
The silver disks are a replica of the original sundial that is etched with gradations around a hole which most likely held a vertical post. The post cast a shadow, dividing the hours of the day and night according to the seasons.
