The Chardonnay Vin Neuf 2009 is part of the Ben Haim Winery's 'Young' series - refreshing, fruity wines not aged in barrels.+The Chardonnay is made from grapes characterized by their acidity and rich aroma. This wine should be served chilled, between 46.5 and 50 degrees Farenheit (8-10 degrees Celsius).

Love for wine has been passed down the Ben Haim family from the great oak barrels that their grandfather used to build in his courtyard. Ruthie and Eli Ben Haim continued the family's winemaking tradition and established a home winery in their own yard, which they eventually moved to Moshav Kfar Azar in Israel's Sharon region.

Starting with the 2009 harvest, the winery moved its grape processing to the Upper Galilee, closer to the vineyards on the eastern slopes of Mount Meron and set up its aging facilities on Moshav Or HaGannuz.

The winery currently produces about 35,000 bottles annually from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Petite Sirah and Muscat grapes that are largely grown in its own vineyards. Vineyards with Shiraz and Traminette are under development, and a Port-style wine is also produced.

Ben-Haim Winery plans to expand its production to 50,000 bottles. Wines are released in three series - Reserve, Grande Reserve and Tradition - and since the 2001 vintage, have been kosher.
