For the cutting edge in kosher wine, look no further than this quite outstanding Gamla Nebbiolo. Incredibly, this is a fine Israel wine with an Italian touch. Emulating the success of the red grapes of north west Italy, Gamla winery planted the very same types of vine in Israel's Golan Heights over ten years ago. Having acclimatized, these vines have now produced a fine Israel wine. In recognition of its Italian origins, the wine is known as Nebbiolo, Italian for fog. Fortunately, the cool climes of the Golan Heights provides a perfect breeding ground for this wine and the 2009 harvest from which it originates proved particularly conducive, with little rainfall until April. This particular crop has also been allowed to mature in oak barrels for twelve months for excellent results.
The result is a bottle of red wine that you will enjoy immensely. The aroma that hits you exhibits cherry and flowers with a hint of spice. The result is a fascinating and alluring wine, which is medium to full bodied. This Nebbiolo goes beautifully with a range of dishes, from grilled lamb chops to grilled salmon and a selection of tapas. Enjoy the best that Israel wine offers.
