Silver and Gold Colored Wheat Cutout Shraga Landesman Mezuzah Case
This wonderfully styliish mezuzah case made from anodized aluminum. This beautiful piece of Judaica features a stalk of wheat, one of the Seven Species which were seen by Moses’ scouts (Deuteronomy). Wheat grain, among the Seven Kinds, represents the staples of our inner make-up.
This silver and gold colored wheat cutout mezuzah case measures 5.1 inches, and brings to mind the strength of the Jewish people, as the stalk of wheat is strong. As one of the Seven Species mentioned in Deuteronomy, tradition tells us the wheat symbolizes the staples of our inner make-up. This passage in Deuteronomy in the Torah tells of Moses’ scouts finding the Seven Species. Scientists believe that wheat was the first crop to be planted in the land of Israel. It calls to mind the importance of bread, “Ha motzi lechem min ha aretz” says to “bring forth bread from the earth”. It is one of the first blessings a child learns. Artist Shraga Landesman, as with all of her mezuzah cases, signs his Judaica creations with his signature in ancient Hebrew characters at the bottom of the case, made of anodized aluminum.
