The Hallel and Hoshanas are said during the Jewish holiday of Sukot (Tabernacles, Feast of Booths), while holding the Four Species (Lulav and Etrog, Arba Minim in Hebrew). They are held every day of this Jewish Festival except for on Shabbat.

Three types of branches and one type of fruit - the etrog, or citron - a citrus fruit very similar to a lemon, make up these four species. The most fragile, and also the most expensive of these, is the etrog. Most of the etrog fruit have what is called a 'pitam' - a little extension which looks like a little knob, found at the end opposite the stem of the etrog. If the pitam falls, the esrog can no longer be used during the Sucot ceremonies, as it is no longer considered kosher. Therefore it is customary to purchase a special box to protect the etrog

This etrog box in 925 Sterling Silver by Hadad Bros. of Israel will undoubtedly protect your Etrog in style during the Jewish festival of Sukkos, as well as enhancing your silver collection during the year.

The small curved feet of the etrog box are placed directly below the narrow latticework panels on the sides of the box. Right above the feet, a narrow smooth silver band, piped with a rope-like design serves as the base for the design on the box. The larger panels are also in a latticework design, embellished with tiny flowers. The smooth silver bands surround each panel, as well as the sides of the cover of the box. The rope like design is repeated on the edge of the cover, which repeats both the larger lattice with the flowers and the narrow lattice from the small panels. The cover is hinged to the box, and latched on the other side with a carved latch. A wide sterling silver handle completes this beautiful box
