This gorgeous Mezuzah Case is made of three colored Marble set in a striped pattern that is then carved upon with the Tower of David On a carved oval background. The three colors of the stripes are natural looking varients of brown and stone color.
The Mezuzah has been a critical part of the Jewish home since the beginnings of the religion, the practice starting way back in the Passover story, when the soon to be Jews, the descendants of Abraham, were told to put sheep's blood on their doorways so that G-d would know the house to be Jewish and not kill their firstborn in the last plague before the exodus. Mezuzahs, then, are another symbol of the oath between us and G-d, displayed on the doors to find attention of passers through the door, as a reminder. On the actual scroll is written by a scribe the Shema prayer. However, if one were to somehow attach the actual scroll to the door not only would it be a dishonorable way to display such a special Judaica item, but also wouldn't be the safest place for it to be kept - this beautiful Mezuzah case keeps it safe from the environment in a most fashionable and symbolic way.
