This beautiful aluminum mezuzah is adorned with a metal plate of avant garde, Judaica inspired designs. In addition to the Hebrew letter Shin, representative of G-d’s holy name, this mezuzah is decorated with a phrase from the Shema prayer, an excerpt from the sacred parchments that are placed within the casing.
Mezuzot / mezuzos / mazuzahs are small, ornate boxes, Judaica items, made of decorative plastic, metal, or wood, that Jewish people often affix to the doorposts of their home. They serve as a reminder to passersby of the Jewish person’s special connection with G-d. Parchments containing scriptural verses (also found in the Shema prayer), written painstakingly by hand in Hebrew calligraphy by a qualified Jewish scribe, are kept inside the mezuzah case. Symbolic of every Jew’s relationship with the Creator and His protection of us, the mezuzah’s presence on a doorpost is also a discrete beacon to other Jewish people passing through.
