Israelite conquest, it was included in Naphtali tribal allotment, and during Second Temple Period its shores were lined with many Jewish villages: Tiberia, Susita, Bet Yerah, and Kefar Nahum. The lake and many adjacent sites are holy to Christians. Today the Kinneret is a popular recreation and swimming spot.
