Much mystery surrounds the tree of life. Folklore from various religions and regions around the world describe the tree of life, each to their own understanding and culture.
In Judaism, the
Tree of Life is known as the etz ha chaim and has a number of meanings, both literal and figurative. In Genesis 2:9 it is written, And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God instructed Adam and Eve not to eat from the

tree of knowledge of good and evil however, they failed to adhere to this commandment. After Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree after listening to the snake, they were banished from the Garden of Eden. God protected the tree of life by putting Cherubim in the east of the Garden of Eden to hide the tree .
The tree of life was not the same tree as that of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. In the Book of Proverbs the tree of life is described as the Torah. From a Kabbalistic point of view, the tree is used to describe how God created the world. Some think of the tree as being the connection between heaven and earth. According to Kabbalah, the tree is a diagram with 10 nodes and 22 lines, connecting heaven and earth, God and man.
On a Kabbalistic level it is also seen as a connection with wisdom and knowledge. It has become popular to wear a pendant or piece of
jewelry designed with the tree of life. They can be found in pendants, rings and earrings. Besides for looking absolutely stunning and ethereal, the meaning behind this symbol is an individual feeling and each person has their own

interpretation of the tree. For some it represents growth and stability and the tree can inspire you, filling you with hope and positivity for the future; for some it represents connectivity between realms that we can only pray to achieve; for some it represents fertility as the tree branches out of roots, branches and all, symbolizing settling down and planting roots, the future generations to come, of family. The branches and roots represent different families and shows that we are all connected to one another, as we all come from the same family, the same roots. Some of us may be individuals, as each leaf is not the same as the next but connecting us to one another are the branches, connected to the trunk of the tree connecting us to the roots. Whilst for some, it reminds them of their connection and relationship with God and His commandments. The beauty about the tree of life jewelry is that they are so diverse and so extraordinary that anyone can find what they are looking for, what strikes them as meaningful and authentic in their eyes.
