Retinol is nicknamed the holy grail of cosmetic products. Although it is
called retinol, it is a form of Vitamin A. This powerful vitamin is used as an anti-aging product for slowing down the aging process and helps treat tired looking skin. It is extremely beneficial when used correctly.
Using retinol helps to produce naturally occurring collagen, helps tighten skin pores and keep them unclogged, reduce wrinkles and fine lines, improves skin color and texture and to stimulate new

blood vessels. However, as much as retinol is a powerful ingredient in skin care, it is important to know that it takes a few months of applying the product before you will be able to notice any difference as it works slowly and consistently. It needs to be used carefully as using too much of the retinol too often can cause dryness and skin irritation. To prevent dryness and irritation, it is recommended at first to start applying the product every other day, always at night time and then gradually until using it nightly does not cause your skin to become too dry. It is best to apply moisturizing cream after using a retinol cosmetic to relieve the dryness.
This cosmetic with retinol should not be used in the day as the vitamin A breaks down quickly when exposed to the sun and air which in turn means that the bottle for the cream or cosmetic with retinol is important as it needs to be air tight with a tight-fitting cap and used within a few short months.
When applying the cream onto the skin, it deposits the retinol directly onto the skin to encourage regrowth and
healthy collagen. There is much debate as to when is the best time and age to start

using retinol cosmetics. Generally, in your 30’s is a good time to start using retinol as a preventative. You can also start using it at an earlier age, it won’t do any harm however you probably won’t be able to see the effects of the retinol at such a young age. Retinol can also be used in
hair products such as shampoo and conditioner. It helps to increase body hair, improves sheen and suppleness. It also helps with hair that has been chemically treated and as a result has become hard and dull. Most common is to find retinol in serum products and since the serum is a highly concentrated cosmetic, it is recommended to limit the use of retinol to only one product a day so as not to put too much vitamin A on your skin. Remember, too much of something is not good for anyone. Don’t use retinol if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
