Yitzchak Cohen, the founder of the well-known Israel Winery Ramot Naftaly, decided to plant the Barbera grapes in Israel after touring Italy, although the grapes develop differently here. It is one of the most popular varieties in Italy but it has also had great success here at Ramot Naftaly. The Barbera wine has won awards both overseas and in Israel. It is a hard grape to grow and is therefore not grown every year.The weather in 2012 was unusual but the vintage was successful, producing 1100 bottles. The wine was barreled for one year in new French Oak. The wine is well balanced and has a fruity flavor.
