This particular necklace is made in the style of the breastplate of the High Priests as discussed in the Torah, with a specific jewel for each tribe. The placement of the stones was dictated by God’s words in Exodus 28:17-19, “You shall set in it four rows of stones. A row of carnelian, chrysolite, and emerald shall be the first row; and the second row a turquoise, a sapphire and a moonstone; and the third row a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst”. Here, crystals recalling each stone are set in silver in this truly Jewish wearable art.
