This Hanukkiah is a replica of a Polish Hanukkah lamp from the Feuchtwanger collection in the Israel museum, which was purchased and donated to the Museum by Baruch and Ruth Rappaport from Geneva. In antiquity, the Jews would light a row of detached clay lamps, so the separate chair candle holders of this piece hark back to that tradition. The golden chairs are engraved with the words נר חנוכה, which translate to Hanukkah candle.
