Decorated with floral lace embellishments and dainty rhinestones, this full-size tallit measures to 20”x72”.
The tallit is a prayer shawl worn by Jewish people during the morning prayer service. Unlike tefillin, which are omitted on the Sabbath, tallitot are worn every day of the week. According to Jewish law, women are exempt from the mitzvah of wearing a tallit, as it is a time-bound mitzvah. Statements made by Rabbi Moshe Feinstein in his work, ‘Iggros Moshe,’ have been interpreted to mean that a woman is not prohibited from wearing a tallit, so long as it is distinctively feminine in appearance, in order to differentiate it from masculine attire. It is becoming commonplace in egalitarian Jewish congregations for feminine worshipers to don the Judaica piece before reciting the Shacharit prayer in synagogue.
