This mezuza is 12 cm long and is written in Nusach Arizal font. The first two verses from the Shema prayer have been hand written by a scribe and rolled up.

The mezuza is placed on the doorposts of Jewish households. It is a symbol of Judaism as well as a constant reminder for those entering or leaving the house that God is watching over us and protecting us from harm. In Deuteronomy we are commanded to “write them on your doorposts and on your gates, thus making the mezuza a mitzvah, commandment, which we are obligated to do. The scribe, a pious Jew, hand writes the two verses of Shema onto a kosher parchment, derived from a kosher animal. This mezuza has been written in Arizal nusach, which originates from the famous Rabbi Isaac Luria, from Tzfat, whose main followers are the Chabad Chassidim. He wrote the famous Kitvei Ari, a book about Kabbalah. Once checked for mistakes etc, it is then hung on the right hand door post at an angle, with a blessing recited before.
