Zohar Argov: Elinor, Oriental/Mizrahi Israel Music CD 1980
Argov's debut album, Elinor, released in 1980, featured the hit songs, "The Secret of the Zodiac" and "What Do You Have Girl" established Zohar Argov as the best Oriental and Mizrahi singer in Israel. For the next seven years of his life and for decades to follow after his death in 1987, Zohar Argov would become the biggest superstar of Israeli music.
Zohar Argov's first album, Elinor, released in 1980 was a huge success and include the hit songs, "The Secret of the Zodiac" and "What Do You Have Girl," a tribute to his ex-wife, Bracha, who remained the love of his life.
Overnight, Zohar became a star and living legend in Israel. With his extra musical gifts, he could improvise a song in a moment or could record a track in one studio session.However, his life and musical career were cut short at the age of 32 due to heroin and drug addictions.
Zohar Argov was born on July 16, 1955 and died on the 6th of November 1987. He was raised in a poor family, one of ten children, in Rishon LeZion, Israel. His musical talent was developed through his upbringing in the singing and the chanting of the religious Yemenite community of his hometown. He remains the heart and soul of Rishon LeZion, Tel Aviv and Israel until today.
