Bier Judaica was established in 1950 by Jizchak Bier, in Jerusalem. A graduate of Bezalel Academy of Art, he was one of very few silversmiths around after the holocaust, and he lovingly filled the demand there was at that time for silver Judaica items. One of his extraordinary Hanukkah menorahs won a special prize, and thus started Bier Judaica.
Many of the current designs are original creations of Jizchak Bier, their designs both beautiful and sensible. Some of his classic designs remain the company's bestsellers. His sons Mordechai and Meir have joined the company over the years, and together they ensure that each piece is made lovingly by hand with attention to detail and quality.
A few of the silversmithing techniques used at Bier Judaica are metal cutting, lost wax casting, metal spinning, bending, and hammering. Using the best of materials, and these classic techniques, Bier Judaica produces skillfully handmade Judaica pieces for generations of Jews to enjoy and treasure. The designs sometimes feature Bible verses, Jewish symbols, or decorative lettering, and one of the favorite motifs is that of Jerusalem of Gold.
