Yair Emanuel is one of the best known names in Judaica art in Israel and worldwide. A graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Yair lives, finds inspiration, and works in the holy city of Jerusalem. A native Israeli, he was born in Kibbutz Sha'alvim and raised orthodox Jewish in Jerusalem. He later connected with a more pluralistic view of Judaism, and this unique background inspires his beautiful Judaica art, which is a blend of traditional themes and shapes combined with a more colorful, oriental style. Traditional motifs as well as ancient Jewish manuscripts are the basis for the pieces, but they are colored and styled in a modern, unique style, working with wood and aluminum, paper, silk and glass, among others, all colored with beautiful vivid colors and eye catching designs, and made in his Jerusalem studio.
He loves painting on silk and wood, hand embroidery, and raw silk appliqué, and uses these techniques in many of his stunning and creative designs. There are stunning metal cutouts, combinations of different types of metal for a lovely effect, and modern, sleek designs for Judaica pieces that are a wonderful way to enjoy the Jewish traditions in the modern world. There are deisgns especially aimed at children, and other equally colorful designs that are perfect for adults, and a range of classic and unique pieces in between. Yair Emanuel also does art that is for home decor rather than a judaic function, and these are just as eye catching and lovely as the rest, all pieces that make wonderful decorations when not in use.
Yair Emanuel and his studio also give back to the community by employing in his staff mentally disabled people and new immigrants to Israel, as well as donating a portion of his profits to charity.
