It is worn in morning prayers. in keeping with tradition, the tallit is made from either linen or wool with colored stripes to decorate it. In recent times more artistic designs have become acceptable. There are different traditions but in general Ashkenazi Jews wear a tallit only when they marry and Sephardi Jews when they reach Bar Mitzvah age.
