The Western Wall is the most important holy site for the Jewish People. It is the last remnant of the Holy Temple, the Second Temple, that was destroyed in 70 CE by the Romans. The part that was left was the supporting wall, it is the only connection we have to the Temple that was destroyed.
We pray towards the wall in our prayers, from all over the world. For thousands of years Jews have come to this precious wall and prayed, pouring out their hearts to God in supplication and sanctification which has lent the wall its other name “the Wailing Wall’, a very fitting wall. Following the 1967 Six Day War, the plaza was created, stones and debris were removed to reveal more levels of the wall. It is taught that the creation of the world began where the Temple was in Jerusalem. The Torah, the Bible, calls the mount where the temple was build, Mount Moriah. It is this holy place where the sacrifice of Isaac took place
In recent years it has become popular to wear pendants with the Western Wall. Sometimes the Western Wall Jewelry necklaces contain a Star of David or a Hebrew name. Many rings are also designed with the wall as the background. This place that is so holy and special to us, can now be close to our hearts and a constant reminder of who we are, where we come from and what we strive for, with the beautiful and intrinsically designed Western Wall jewelry
